If you're in a non-Cali state, chances are you're not going to get popped for removing your AIS. The guys over @ West Texas Outlaw Customs have put together a V-Star 650 AIS Removal How-To. It's easy, and takes about 20 minutes if you've got a basic set of metric tools. www.nightskycustoms.com/inst/vstar650/vstar650.htmlNow you'll be left with an elbow at the top of each cylinder, which you can either cover with a compression fitting like the link above suggests... OR.... you can pick up a No-Chirp AIS removal kit from Night Sky Customs. It's prettier than a regular fitting, and (supposedly) eliminates and 'chirp' noise associated with standard removal. You can remove the elbows by placing a long screwdriver/breaker bar/etc under them as best as possible, and beating them out with a hammer. I wedged a handle of a 1/2" breaker bar up under there, and smacked away. As well, Patrick (CruZn) @ 650CCnD is using .45 ACP shells..... so if you can find them, they'll work as well. You can find the Night Sky kit here: www.nightskycustoms.com/products.html
